"Armwrestling is not only a sport, i'ts a weird kind of lifestyle - in a good way"2010-03-01 00:00To do my very best and to earn a place on the winners stand.
I have done a lot of sports in my life, from volleyball to underwater rugby and always considered myself as quite strong. Two and a half years ago, me and my husband happened to pass by an outdoor armwrestling instruction held by Team Stockholm Armwrestling and we decided to try it, just for fun. My instructor that sunny day was Anna Ivarsson, a not very big (quite small, actually) 14-year-old girl. She beat me. Apparently without any strain at all! Not god. Revenge! I tried many times to make my husband accompany me to the Team Stockholm training, with little success. Eventually I asked my daughter Klara, who was 15 years old at the time and into boxing - to come with me, which she did. Once there, wellcomed by all the cool and friendly armwrestlers who tried to teach us all their tricky skills, we had no choice but coming back, over and over again. Stuck, addicted. (My husband, after watching the big guys at the Europeans in Norway, started to armwrestle too and will attend the Nationals this year - better late...:)) No person in particular but I wellcome all the ladies in my class from eastern Europe - they are great. And of course Chris from Brazil who unfortunately will not give us the honour this year.
