MALIN KLEINSMITH

2010-02-07 20:04

Malin Kleinsmith, 30 years
and 65kg, placed third att World Challenge Over All 2009. Only Egle Vaitkute
and the "unbeatable" Irina Makeeva and had better places.

How is your shape today?
I feel pretty good! But I donīt know since I havenīt pulled  in a "real" competition for a long time. The last two has been "pro-matches". One in USA in November against Cindy Looney and one in England now in January, against Laura Branding. Which means that I only had to pull against just one girl in 5 and 6 matches. I won both of those matches, so I do feel pretty good. I have only been training at the gym, to get stronger. We will see how far it will take me at the World Challenge 2010.

in November in USA

Score: 6-0 (Malin the winner!)

Do you have any plan for World Challenge 2010? Goals?
My goal is to do better than I did at WC 2009, I donīt necessarily mean to PLACE better than last year, cause I was lucky, but to give the best girls better matches. Iīm also excited to pull with Zhanna Chingule, if I get the chance in the competition. Cause I have heard that she has improved alot since last year, so it will be fun.

Will you compete at the European Championship in Moscow? The Worlds in USA? Will there be any supermatch in 2010?
I wonīt compete at the European Championships nor the Worlds. Unfortunately I had decided to go to Canada in April to compete a pro-match against Barb Zalepa (several times World Champion). The best out of 5 matches. After I had promised to go, I found out that the Swedish Championships is on the EXACT SAME DATE, which means that I canīt qualify to Team Sweden this year. The Swedish Championships is usually in the end of April or in the beginning of May, now it was even earlier. Thatīs bad luck for me, but good for all the girls that doesnīt have to have me beat them in -65kg weight class ;)

Irina Gladkaya, Russia became world Champion.

What is your strength as an armwrestler?
My strength as an armwrestler is my speed, my explosivity. I rarely lose a start! I also donīt fear anybody, so when I am up at the table I donīt care who is on the other side of the table I give it my all!

What is your strength as a mother?
Both my strength and weakness as a mother is my love for my daughter. I would die for her, do anything for her. But that also means that she has me wrapped around her finger, and I give in sometimes even if I shouldnīt.

What do you think about World Challenge being arranged the 8th of March on the 100 years celebration of the international women day? It is a problem that it's a Monday?
For me this year it is a smaller problem, cause my work is in a development phase, and alot of things is happening in March, but itīs not THAT bad that I canīt come. I like that it is on the International women day, and I do agree with that it should be the 8th or March every year.

Something else you want to tell us?
Girls watch out! Iīm coming to get you!!! ;)
